SAN JUAN DE MANAPIARE
San Juan de Manapiare is the capital of this remote municipality in Amazonas. An area rich in wildlife and majestic scenery, this municipality has become a fishing hot spot for many sportsmen looking for Peacock Bass. With fishing camps located along the rivers, tourism has given an economic boost to the area. Even though there are tourists from the outside who arrive here by privately rented small aircraft, this is still a very remote and difficult area of ministry. There have been some exploration of the possibility of beginning a work in San Juan. We need to plant a church in this municipality, but as of now we still do not have any workers who feel the call to enter this harvest field. The Yekuana and the Maco are the primary tribal groups in this area. Both groups have been blessed with partial Bible translations in their language, but there is still much work to be done in raising up leaders for the church among them.
