Maroa is the name of both the municipality and it's capital. This remote municipality is located on the border with Colombia and is not very accessible because none of the major rivers of Amazonas reach Maroa. This area is not a major destination except for the people who live there. It is a mixture of diversity with a number of different tribal groups living in the area, each one having their own language and culture. It's inaccessibility and varied culture could be part of the reason why no major missions work has been started here. There is a need because there are people here who God loves and wants to bring into His Kingdom, but the workers for the harvest are few and we do not have anyone answering the call for Maroa.
