Tucupita is a hot and humid municipality located in the Orinoco River delta with it's capital bearing the same name. Covered by swamps, there is a vast range of flora and fauna making this area one of the country's more ecologically diverse places. Significant amounts of oil have been discovered in the western parts of the delta lending an apprehension that exploitation of this oil will cause substantial ecological damage. The main income of the town of Tucupita comes from eco-tourism. The attractions are the varied bird life, mammals, and reptiles of the delta. Also to be seen and visited are the villages of the local Indians, the Warao. We do not have a church planted in this municipality, but we are praying and working to raise up a team to enter this area so that the gospel of Jesus Christ can be proclaimed to those who are waiting.
